President Donald Trump has been touting Wednesday as "Liberation Day," when his sweeping tariffs, including reciprocal tariffs, are scheduled to take effect. However, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer says those tariffs would have devastating impacts across upstate New York. Schumer says the tariffs Trump already enacted in March are already slowing sales and causing tourism from Canada to drop. He says approximately 159,400 upstate New Yorkers work in industries targeted by the looming tariffs, including just over 30,000 in Western New York and about 4,700 in Chautauqua County.
