Hochul Announces Proposal for Universal School Meals

A new initiative would provide free school breakfasts and lunches to every student across New York. On Friday, Governor Kathy Hochul announced the program as her fifth State of the State proposal for 2025. Hochul says the program would cover the cost of all school meals, helping address food insecurity and ensure that more than 2.7 million students can eat for free. She says it would also help save families an additional $165 in groceries per child each month...
