One person has died as a result of a Wednesday morning house fire in the Village of Brocton. Firefighters from Brocton and Portland were called to a residence at 94 Old Mill Road shortly after 5:00 AM and were assisted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office and the county's Tech Rescue Team. After the fire was extinguished, the county's Fire Investigation Team determined that the fire started within the ceiling area of the basement. According to the Sheriff's Office, a male occupant was found dead within the residence. The victim's identity has not been released at this time. The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
