The Dunkirk City School District will have a ramped up police presence on Monday following a threat that was made targeting Dunkirk High School. Dunkirk City Schools Superintendent Mike Mansfield announced early Sunday evening that the district was made aware of the threat circulating on social media. According to Mansfield, the Dunkirk Police Department investigated the threat, and it was found to not be credible.
Below is the full statement released by Mike Mansfield:
Today the district was made aware of a threat circulating on social media targeting the Dunkirk Secondary School. The Dunkirk Police Department was immediately alerted to the threat and immediately initiated an investigation.
I am now able to report that the result of the police investigation is that the threat is not credible. Out of an abundance of caution the Dunkirk Police Department will provide additional patrols throughout the district tomorrow.
I would like to thank those who brought the message to our attention and to the Dunkirk Police Department for their swift and thorough response.
