A traffic stop for equipment violations on Jamestown's south side led to multiple drug and weapon charges for a Lakewood woman early Thursday. Jamestown Police pulled over a vehicle on Newland Avenue near Barrett Avenue shortly after 1:45 AM and saw 42-year-old Tonya Thwing allegedly possess a bludgeon, which is illegal to possess in New York State. Officers searched the vehicle and located a billy club, which is also illegal to possess in the state. Thwing was then taken into custody and allegedly found to possess a quantity of methamphetamine and buprenorphine/suboxone sublingual films on her person. Thwing was charged with two counts each of 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and 4th-degree criminal possession of a weapon and was released with an appearance ticket. She also received multiple traffic tickets for the equipment violations.
