Shooting incidents with injury in New York State have declined by 28% during the first five months of this year, compared to January through May 2023. That's according to Governor Kathy Hochul, who says that drop reflects incidents reported by the 28 police departments participating in the state's Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) initiative. Meanwhile, Hochul also announced that nearly $36 million will be awarded to law enforcement agencies in the next round of the GIVE initiative. That includes $298,584 for the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office, $261,315 for the Jamestown Police Department, $95,815 for the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office and $26,300 for the Chautauqua County Probation Department.
