One person has died, while another is critically injured as the result of a shooting that occurred late Monday afternoon on Jamestown's north side. Jamestown Police were initially called to 839 Prendergast Avenue at about 5:30 PM and were later joined by city firefighters and Chautauqua County EMS. At this time, no suspects have been announced. Schmidt adds that it appears drug sales may have been a factor into the shooting, but the exact circumstances are still being investigated.
The 800 block of Prendergast Avenue was also the scene of a targeted shooting incident in August 2022, where one man was killed and two others were later arrested.
