Several schools across the area have expressed their support and well wishes for Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, as he continues to recover in a Cincinnati hospital after he went into cardiac arrest on Monday.
In Gowanda, students and staff at Gowanda Middle School united to form a massive number 3 in the gymnasium on Friday. A scissor lift was used to facilitate the effort in less than an hour with four grade levels of students. Meanwhile, Gowanda Elementary School is sending a heartfelt "Get Well Soon" message to Hamlin.
Support efforts in Chautauqua County included a group of 3rd-graders at Fredonia Elementary School making Damar Hamlin some cards and a class at Silver Creek Elementary School working on a "Get Well Soon" sign for Hamlin. Also, C.C. Ring Elementary School in Jamestown participated in "Hat Day for Hamlin," in which students and staff gave a cash donation to wear a hat -- red, blue and white -- to support Hamlin's Chasing M's Foundation. That effort raised $470.
