The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team is "actively working" at determining the cause of a residential fire that occurred at 83 West Main Street in Frewsburg Monday morning. Frewsburg firefighters responded to the blaze around 7:30 am, along with Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies and the Carroll Town Police Department. The Sheriff's Office reports that the residence included five apartments, four of which were occupied. One occupant died in the fire. The victim's name is not being released at this time. All other occupants were able to exit the residence safely and are currently being assisted by the Red Cross. Frewsburg firefighters received mutual aid from a number of other departments, including Falconer, Busti, Lakewood, Kiantone, Chautauqua County Emergency Services, the County FAST Team, and County Fire Police.
