"No Kings" March
Saturday, April 19 2025 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
This Saturday, April 19, marks the 250th anniversary of the beginning of the Revolutionary War. The battles of Lexington and Concord were fought on this day in 1775. The night before, four men and one woman rode through the night to warn the Patriots that British soldiers were coming. The United States of America began on that day, when Patriots stood up for freedom and justice and against the tyranny of a monarch. The “No Kings” march, which will be held on Saturday, beginning at 11:00am, will be an homage to those brave patriots. The march will begin at the D&F plaza Central Ave entrance, and will continue down Central Ave, ending at the Dunkirk pier. The march will be 2.7miles in entirety. There will be two stations designated along the route, at Lucas Ave and by Brooks Hospital, where water will be available and marchers can join or drop out if they wish. Participants are encouraged to remember to dress for the weather, whatever it may turn out to be, wear comfortable shoes, bring hydration, and any beat instruments you may have. This will be a demonstration of support for democracy and against any form of autocracy; to uphold the rights and liberties that the Patriots at Lexington and Concord fought for, and that this country has worked to preserve and improve on for the last 250 years. Please join in participation of the right to assemble peacefully that our founder guaranteed us.
