Dunkirk Woman Accused of Obstructing Law Enforcement in Silver Creek Traffic Stop

A Dunkirk woman has been hit with a slew of charges after she got pulled over for traffic infractions in the Village of Silver Creek on Wednesday. Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies stopped the vehicle on Main Street shortly after 1:00 PM and identified the driver as 28-year-old Keishla Rivera-Perez, who was found to have a suspended license. Deputies also saw small children in the vehicle that did not have proper safety restraints. Rivera-Perez also allegedly obstructed law enforcement during the investigation and threw an item from her possession onto the sidewalk, causing it to break into pieces. Rivera-Perez was charged with 2nd-degree obstruction, 2nd-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, no/inadequate muffler, uninspected motor vehicle, backseat passenger less than age 2 with no rear-facing restraint, backseat passenger age 4-7 with no/improper restraint, and throwing/depositing refuse on a highway/adjacent land. She was issued appearance tickets for Hanover Town Court at a later date. State troopers from the SP Fredonia barracks assisted in the investigation.
