Kenneth Richard Murphy, 82, of Mayville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his home with family at his side. He was born on May 13, 1939 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Emmitt A. and Wilhelmina Genske Murphy.
Ken proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator, retiring in 1976. He then returned to Western New York, settling in Mayville and worked 20 years for Mogan David Wine Corporation in Westfield.
He was a member of the Westfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6764, the William L. Travis Mayville American Legion Post 493, and a past member and commander of the Mayville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8647.
Ken is survived by his five children, Donald Cornell of O'Fallon, IL, Kenneth Richard (Robin) Murphy, Jr. of Greencastle, PA, Timothy (Tammi) Murphy of Portsmouth, VA, Shawn (Ellen) Murphy of Courtland, VA and Kelly (Javier) Angarita of Fayetteville, NC; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carol Bomasuto of Dunkirk. In addition to Ken's parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Mama Pat) Loup Murphy, whom he married on May 20, 1960 in Brocton; two sisters; and one brother.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Mayville American Legion, 144 South Erie Street in Mayville. A graveside service with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
