A local state lawmaker takes issue with the Cannabis Control Board's Seeding Opportunity Initiative. The initiative, announced by Governor Kathy Hochul on Thursday, will position individuals with prior cannabis-related criminal offenses to make the first adult-use cannabis sales with products grown by New York farmers. But Senator George Borrello says the initiative goes beyond prior cannabis-related criminal offenses...
Hochul said on Thursday the initiative makes sales in New York possible before the end of 2022, jumpstarts the state's cannabis industry, guarantees support for future equity applicants, and secures an early investment into communities most impacted by the disproportionate enforcement of cannabis prohibition. Borrello, who opposed the legalization of marijuana in New York, was a guest on WDOE's Viewpoint program.
