Saturday Sports Update

Top: Nothing like a Dunkirk-Fredonia rivalry game, huh?  Or in this case, Fredonia-Westfield-Brocton.  And it was a night to remember for the Badgers; even though they won't be playoff-bound like their neighbors, they did spoil Dunkirk's bid for a perfect regular season Friday night at Karl Hoeppner Field.  Brendan Plaister (left) dictated the tempo of the game, running for 167 yards and two touchdowns for FWB.  Late in the game, the Marauders tried to keep their undefeated hopes alive, but Issiah Velez (right) was knocked out of bounds inches short of a first down with 1:26 remaining, preserving a 15-8 win for FWB.  Photos by Ron Szot

Bottom left: Falconer-Cassadaga Valley's Connor Crabtree finds running room during Friday night's game at Southwestern.  Crabtree had 80 yards rushing and 53 yards receiving, but there wasn't enough offense to go around for the Golden Cougars, as Southwestern pulled out a 7-3 win to clinch the Class C South division title.  Photo by the Post-Journal

Bottom right: Dallas Keuchel dominated the New York Yankees Friday night in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.  The southpaw pitched seven shutout innings and struck out 10 batters to lead the Houston Astros to a 2-1 victory.  Game 2 of the ALCS takes place this afternoon.  Photo by USA Today
