Top: NFL football is back!  Today, Preston Brown and the Buffalo Bills will look to ground the New York Jets in their 2017 opener at New Era Field.  It will be the first regular season game for new Bills head coach Sean McDermott, who seeks to get the Bills off to a winning start.  Today's game can be heard on WDOE (94.9 FM/1410 AM). Pregame coverage starts at 11:00 AM, leading up to kickoff at 1:00 PM.  The Bills enter the game as 7.5-point favorites.  Photo by

Bottom left: A first-time Grand Slam champion was crowned Saturday in New York.  Sloane Stephens, who had missed a considerable chunk of this tennis season due to injury, defeated Madison Keys 6-3, 6-0 in the U.S. Open women's final.  The 24-year-old Stephens became the first American woman other than Venus and Serena Williams to win the U.S. Open in 15 years.  Photo by USA Today

Bottom right: Falconer-Cassadaga Valley quarterback Connor Crabtree runs to his right during Saturday's high school football game against Gowanda.  Crabtree ran for 75 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning 3-yard score with 4:33 remaining, as the Golden Cougars edged the Panthers 27-26.  Photo from the Observer
