Sunday Sports Update

Top left: This past season, I've gotten familiar with how solid a softball player Dunkirk High School junior Emilee Hanlon is.  Well, guess what?  She's not too bad at track and field, either.  In fact, she won a state title on Saturday!  At the New York State Track and Field Championships in Endicott, Hanlon cleared 5'6" in the high jump, which was good enough for a Division II championship.  Photo by Kim Hanlon

Top right: Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins are one win away from lifting Lord Stanley's Cup for the second year in a row.  Crosby was an instrumental figure in Thursday night's 6-0 win over Nashville, assisting on three of the Penguins' six goals.  The puck drops for Game 6 tonight at 8:20 PM in Nashville.  Photo by USA Today

Bottom left: All rise!  Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees put the gavel down on the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, winning 16-3.  Here, Judge watches his Major League-leading 19th home run leave the yard in the 1st inning.  It was the first of five round-trippers for the AL East-leading Bronx Bombers.  Photo by USA Today

Bottom right: Rafael Nadal won his first French Open championship in 2005 at the age of 19.  12 years later, the man known as the King of Clay finds himself back on his throne again at Roland Garros.  Today, Nadal capped a sterling week at the French Open, defeating Stan Wawrinka 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 to win his 10th career title on the red clay in Paris.  Photo by Sports Illustrated
