Sunday Sports Update

Top: The high school baseball and softball seasons are over for Fredonia, but it was still a very solid year for both programs.  On Saturday, Fredonia pitcher Derrick Walters (left), who had been so impressive in playoff wins over Tonawanda and Alden, did not last very long against Livonia -- he went just 1 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on four hits in the Billies' 5-3 loss in the New York State Class B Far West Regional.  But Walters still has another year to look forward to, and if the playoffs are any indication, the future will be bright.  Also on Saturday, Fredonia softball pitcher Hannah Cybart (right) was one of four Lady Billies named to the CCAA Division 1 West First Team for the season.  She was also named the league's Pitcher of the Year.  The other three Fredonia players on the first team are Caitlyn Cybart, Cassie Essek, and Mekenna Leid.  Photos by Ron Szot

Bottom right: LeBron James and Stephen Curry will be back in action tonight after two days off in the NBA Finals.  Curry and the Golden State Warriors went off in the second half of Game 1 en route to a 113-91 victory.  Photo by USA Today
