Saturday Sports Update

Top left: It is getting to this point in the high school basketball season where seniors are getting the recognition for the hard work they put in during the season.  On Friday, the Pine Valley girls, coached by Bryelle Cortright (far right) had their senior night and made the most of it with a 55-12 win over Forestville.  Emily Raiport was one rebound short of a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds.  Photo from the @pinevalleyLBP Twitter account

Bottom: Stanford women's basketball coach Tara Vanderveer made history on Friday.  Vanderveer's 8th-ranked Cardinal defeated USC 58-42, giving Vanderveer her 1,000th career win.  Vanderveer, who was inducted into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame in 2010, is only the third NCAA basketball coach to reach that milestone, joining Tennesee's Pat Summitt and Duke's Mike Krzyzewski.  Photo by the Bay Area News Group
