Timothy J. Elfman passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Born and raised in Dunkirk, he graduated from Cardinal Mindszenty High School in 1976.
He has been a Florida resident since 1983. Timothy was previously employed at Disney Theme Parks, then went on to work at Lockheed Martin (formerly Martin Marietta), where he was a technician calibration senior specialist for over 30 years until the time of his passing. He served in the United States Navy for six years and was a Master Mason.
Timothy was very generous, compassionate, charitable, humble, sociable and friendly. He never hesitated to help someone in need, even total strangers. He gave his time, money and friendship easily, expecting nothing in return. "Paying it forward" was important to him. He looked forward to retirement because it meant having the time to help others and travel.
In recent years, he organized and provided on annual spaghetti dinners for veterans. Tim loved to cook and share meals, especially known for enormous batches of pasta sauce. He was determined to maintain regular contact with family and friends, often being the driving force to make that happen.
Timothy attended his high school reunions every five years and was looking forward to this year's 60th birthday celebration with his classmates.
Preceded in death are his sister, Nora; infant brother, John David; and stepsister, Susan Waiss. Timothy is survived by his siblings, Mark A. (Angela) of San Diego, CA, Andy (Mary) of Fredonia, Daniel of Fredonia, Kathy Briggs (Gidge) of Largo, FL, Janice Burton (Mark) of Depew, John (Cece) of Jamestown and Cindy Driskel (stepsister) of Wheatfield. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
