Anna M. Carpenter Waite, 94, of Cassadaga, and who wintered in Florida, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. She was born August 22, 1923 in the Town of Poland, a daughter of the late Ray and Helen Driscoll Carpenter.
A Chautauqua County resident most of her life, she had attended high school in Sinclairville and Falconer.
Anna was a 44-year member of the Jamestown D.A.R. Chapter, Mayflower Society, Fenton Historical Society, Chautauqua County Genealogical Society, and enjoyed doing genealogy and authored several genealogy books, including one with her cousin Marilyn Ford Anderson. She was the past president of Red Bird Cemetery and was also involved in the updating of records for several local cemeteries.
Wife of the late Maurice J. Waite; mother of Helen (late James) Burlett of Dunkirk, Priscilla (late Donny) Lawson of Perry, GA, Dennis and the late Gary and Robert Waite; grandmother of Amanda (Roger) Cooley, Mark and Monte Lawson; great-grandmother of Jordan and Alex Cooley; sister of the late Betty Kemp Haskins; half-sister of the late George and Floyd Carpenter.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville, with arrangements by the Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville.
