Dorothy M. Lanphere, 98, of Sinclairville went home to be with the lord on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. She was born December 30, 1919 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Grove and Susie Sample Bush.
Dorothy attended Jamestown High School. She was a full-time wife and mother of seven children. She also cleaned for several families in Sinclairville and the Sinclairville Library for many years.
When she wasn't cooking or baking, Dorothy would work in her garden. In later years, she belonged to the Park Church Ladies Circle, where she enjoyed working on quilts. Besides quilting, Dorothy loved to knit, crochet and sit on the porch watching the birds.
Wife of the late Steward C. Lanphere; mother of John (late Lucinda) and Jesse (Blanche) Lanphere and Shelby (Phillip) Terry (with who she made her home), all of Sinclairville, Jim (Mary) Lanphere of Fredonia, Justin (Karen Edwards) Lanphere of Silver Creek and the late Jay, Jerry (Cindy), Joel (Shirley) Lanphere; grandmother of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister of Hilton Bush of Frewsburg, Evelyn Blood of Jamestown and the late Margaret Featherstone, Louise Glazer, Elsie Lindsey, Norman, Howard, Orsell and Oliver Bush.
A private service will be held at the family's convenience. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville.
