Francis J. "Frank”"Wozniak of Fredonia, age 96, died Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his loving family at his side.

Frank is survived by his wife of 73 years, Shirley A. (nee Straight) Wozniak; brother-in-law, David (Patricia) Straight of Fredonia; nieces, Lauri (Eric) Zebracki of Fredonia and Jody Scott (Frank Jusko) of Williamsport, PA; nephew, Andy (Cathi) Straight of Cassadaga; and several other nieces and nephews out of town; and great-nephews, Meredith Zebracki of Fredonia, Sam Scott of Williamsport, PA and Tyler Grisanti of Forestville. He was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Mary (nee Sob) Wozniak; as well as a brother, Adam Jr.; and sisters, Virginia and Florence.

Frank was born in Dunkirk on May 22, 1921. He was involved at an early age in the family business, Quality Bakery of Dunkirk, where he assisted with many tasks in the bakery and deliveries and where he would meet his future wife, Shirley.

He graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1939. Frank then went on to attend the University of Alabama until called to serve his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Frank served in the CBI in India for two years. In 1944, he returned to Dunkirk to marry the love of his life, Shirley Ann Straight. They enjoyed 73 years of marriage. Upon completion of his military service, Frank attended and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Buffalo. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa fraternity.

Frank and Shirley resided in Syracuse, where he was employed by Physician Supply of Rochester. He was highly respected throughout his career, receiving many awards over the years. Upon his retirement, Frank and Shirley built a new home and returned to Fredonia. Frank continued on as a consultant for Physician Supply for many years.

Frank and his family are forever grateful for the loving care and friendship of home caregivers: Cathy, Pat, Shirley, Alicia, Mary, Rose, Paula, Tori and Donna and our "2A Family" at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Calls may be made Saturday, January 20 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Larson-Timko Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, where prayers will be offered Saturday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 336 Washington Avenue, Dunkirk at 11:00 a.m. Military Honors will be accorded by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council at the church following the funeral mass. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia.
