Gladys J. VanNote of Gowanda-Zoar Road passed away Friday evening October 6, 2017 at the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Gladys was 89 years old. She was born December 19, 1927 in Gowanda, the only child to Robert and Mabel (Holcomb) Witt.
Gladys married Wayne VanNote at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Gowanda on June 3, 1950. Wayne passed away January 24, 1999.
Gladys retired from NYSEG; she worked out of the Gowanda office, where she was a clerk. A member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Gowanda, Gladys was also an 82-year member of the Gowanda American Legion Post 409 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the former Order of the Eastern Star Rebecca Lodge of Gowanda.
Survivors include a son, William (Terrie A. Diblasi) VanNote of Collins; grandchildren, Nicholas (Kelly) VanNote of Gowanda, Jason (Kelly) VanNote of Orchard Park and Ryan (Amy) VanNote of Gowanda; also survived by great-grandchildren, Christian, Chase, Benjamin, Kaden, Kaela and Madison VanNote. Besides her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by a son, Randy VanNote, who passed away May 22, 1975.
Friends may call at the Schindler Funeral Home, 44 Center St., Gowanda on Thursday, October 12 from 4-7 p.m., where Gladys' funeral will be held Friday, October 13 at 1 p.m. Interment in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Pastor Sue Hodges officiating.
