Arthur F. Kubasik, 88, of Dunkirk died Wednesday evening, September 6, 2017 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk following a brief illness. He was born April 4, 1929 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Frank and Cecelia (Banach) Kubasik.
Arthur was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the Second Infantry Division.
He was formerly employed at the ALCO plant in Dunkirk and retired from Al Tech Specialty Steel in 1992 after working 32 years in the maintenance department as a carpenter.
Arthur was active in the Dunkirk Little League program, serving as a coach and manager for the Lions Club.
He was an avid bowler in the Dunkirk Bowling Association for over 30 years. Arthur enjoyed trips to the casino and being a fan of the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills.
Memberships include Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hyacinth and a lifetime member of both the First Ward Falcon Club and the Moniuszko Club.
Surviving are his children, William "Bill" Kubasik (Kim) of Dunkirk, Kathleen (Ken) Rook of Webster and Lynn (Mark) Wisniewski of Dunkirk; two sisters, Renee Fisk of Greencrest and Denee Tucker of Dunkirk; grandchildren, Amanda (Dave) Winchell, Brooke (Ben) Durfey, Adam Kubasik, Vicki (Matt) Scozzafava, Nick (Sarah) Rook, Matthew (Jessica) Wisniewski, Jacob (Katie) Wisniewski and Stephanie Wisniewski (Ryan); and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brody, Cooper, Evan, Katelyn, Amelia, Abigail, Olivia, Ellie, Jocelyn, Nora, Nolan, twins Emery and Emerson, and Hailey. An aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceeded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Eleanor (Jesse) Kubasik; brother, Gerald J. Kubasik; and great-grandson, Jameson Durfey.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call Sunday, September 10 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 E. Doughty St. in Dunkirk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 11 at 10:00 AM in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery.
