Margaret A. Wheeler

Margaret A. Wheeler, 75, of Cassadaga passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at home with her three daughters by her side after a five-month battle with cancer. She was born April 15, 1942 in Buffalo, to the late Marion (Galley) Drobick and Ralph Galley.

Marge was a 1960 graduate of Bennett High School in Buffalo.

Marge was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 42 years, Frank Wheeler, whom she lovingly cared for during his own three-year cancer journey. She is survived by three daughters, Susan (John) Freebery of Clearwater, FL, Brenda Lopp-Courson of Evergreen, CO and Karen Brahler of Massillon, OH; three grandchildren, Nichole (Menash) Petscher, Jordan (Andrea) Marsh and Madison Brahler; and six great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Lucy and Nora Petscher and Jackson, Harper and Eloise Marsh. Also surviving are her two sisters-in-law and dear friends, Edie (Bill) Dorman of Stockton and Marilyn Ludemann of North Venice, FL; and nieces and nephews, Charles (Sharon) Reese, Bob (Susan) Garrow, Cheryl Wagner and Michele (Paul) Smith. Marge was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Bob Garrow; brother, Charles Reese, Sr.; brother-in-law, Ronald Ludemann; and son-in-law, Scott (Scooter) Courson.

Marge's fun-loving approach to life and irreverent sense of humor were characteristics that defined her personality. Her years spent tending bar at Frawleys, The White Inn and Cassadaga Lakes Country Club allowed her to showcase her personality and interact with the public she adored. Marge loved her "happy hours" whether she was working them or hosting them at home with her neighbors and friends. She retired from the Fredonia State Association (FSA) Bookstore in 2015 after 18 years of employment.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 8 in the Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Immediately following, Marge will be interred at the Cassadaga Cemetery followed by a luncheon hosted by the Cassadaga American Legion.
