Michael T. Crane, Sr.

Mr. Michael T. Crane, Sr. of Randolph passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017, surrounded by his family at the Erie County Medical Center.

Mr. Crane was born in Dunkirk on August 21, 1937, a son of the late James C. and Mae Catherine (Spencer) Crane. A graduate of Cardinal Mindszenty High School in Dunkirk, he served with the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. Mr. Crane attended St. Michael's College in Winooski Park, VT, SUNY Fredonia, and graduated from SUNY Brockport.

He was employed by the Medina Central School District as a 5th-grade teacher in the Oak Orchard Elementary School from 1966-1996. He served as the school science coordinator and was recognized with the Teacher of the Year Award.

Active in the community, Mr. Crane was a member and Past President of the Medina Jaycees, was JCI Senator 16252, member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus and served as a Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed the outdoors, was a hunter, trapper and fisherman.

Survivors include two children, Kelly Anne (Curtis) Follman and Michael T. (Christine) Crane II; 11 grandchildren, Kayleen (Paul) Sanchez, Aaron (Stephany) Follman, Samuel (Nicole Cooley), Elisabeth, Thomas, Roy John, Annabelle Follman, Michael (Samantha Stewart) Crane, Stephen Crane, Joseph John Crane and Cody Crane; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Savannah; his former wife, Jeanne Crane; good friend and neighbor, James Guy of Randolph; his beagle, Lucy; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 17 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 18 at 10:00 AM at Harvest Christian Fellowship, 560 East Ave., Albion. Military honors will be accorded at the church at 10:45 AM by members of Lincoln Post 1483, VFW and Butts-Clark Post 204, American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, Inc., 1101 Casey Road, Basom, NY 14013.
