Evelyn Jane Wagner

Evelyn Jane (Franklin) Wagner, age 84, of Westfield died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Absolut Care of Westfield following an extended illness. She was born on April 10, 1933 in the Town of Portland, the daughter of the late Richard and Mabel (Wadsworth) Franklin.

Jane was a 1952 graduate of Brocton High School and was a Westfield resident almost all her life. She had been employed as a home health aide for many years and had volunteered as a Gray Lady at the Westfield Meorial Hospital. When her children were young, she had also been a Girl Scout leader for several years. She enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting and sewing. She loved nature and working outside in her garden and yard. Jane was an avid bird watcher and loved feeding the many birds that enjoyed her feeders, especially the hummingbirds. Her faith was an important part of her life. She was very active in her church and the Ladies' Ministries of the Church. However, her family was everything to her; she and her late husband, Carlton, will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Wagner was a member of the Lakeshore Assembly of God, YWCA of Westfield and the Mayville VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her two daughters, Candace Carroll of Chico, CA and Melinda Wagner of Columbus, OH; and her two sons, Timothy (Susan) Wagner and Brian (Cheryl) Wagner, both of Portland. Five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. She is further survived by her sister, Genevieve Ludemann of Fredonia; and by her two brothers, Carlton Franklin of Holt Summit, MO and Raymond Franklin of Portland. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Carlton R. Wagner, whom she married on April 12, 1952 and who died on January 31, 2015; as well as by her daughter, Yvonne Twombly and her sister, Onolee Stearns.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 20 from 5-8 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, and are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 21 at the Lakeshore Assembly of God, 252 East Main Street, Westfield, with the Rev. Vincent Sanzo officiating. Private burial will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lakeshore Assembly of God, 252 E. Main St., or to the Patterson Library, 40 S. Portage St., both in Westfield, NY 14787.
