Lucille A. Neveu

Lucille A. Neveu, 83, of Silver Creek passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville after a brief illness. She was born on June 4, 1933 in Nashua, NH, the daughter of the late Eugene and MarieJeanne (Duhamel) Gagnon.

Lucille was a graduate of St. Louis de Gonzague High School in Nashua, NH (1951), Rivier College in Nashua, NH (Bachelor of Applied Music, 1955), and Sherwood School of Music in Chicago, IL (Masters of Applied Music, 1957). Lucille was employed by the Conservatory of Music in Evanston, IL and the Ohio Northern University in Ada, OH as a piano teacher.

Lucille married Maurice C. Neveu on September 1, 1955, and together they raised five children. The family relocated to Silver Creek in the early 1960s, where Lucille enjoyed teaching piano to nearly 200 local students from 1964-2004. She also accompanied countless musicians and singers in various events, and volunteered regularly by playing piano at St. Columban's and Lake Shore Nursing Homes. Lucille was a faithful member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, where she was the organist from 1965-2008.

In addition to music, she was an avid bird watcher, active with the Lake Erie Bird Club and participated in backyard bird counts for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Over the last 15 years, she was deeply involved with family genealogy research.

Survivors include a daughter, Elise (Carl) Fila of Williamsville; sons, Paul Neveu of Kent, OH, Albert (Jacqueline) Neveu of Oswego and Daniel Neveu of Williamsville; three granddaughters, Brittney (Miles) Seekford of North Port, FL, Candice Neveu of Tampa, FL and Sophie Neveu of Oswego; and two great-grandchildren, Ava Seekford and Chace Seekford of North Port, FL. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and son, David Neveu.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Silver Creek, with the Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn officiating. Internment will take place at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. An open house will be held at 18 Hanover St. immediately following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lucille’s honor to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 135 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY 14136.
