Wilma H. Smith, 92, of Brocton died Saturday evening, March 25, 2017 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, following a brief illness. She was born February 12, 1925 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Leon and Mildred (Cole) Maines.
A lifelong area resident, Wilma had been employed as the head cook for the Brocton school system.
Survivors include four children, Sharon (Richard) Schmit of Buffalo, Beverly (Richard) Travis of Portland, and Timothy (Joann Riscili) Smith and Barbara (Eric Hamm) Smith, both of Brocton; five grandchildren, Ryan Travis, Brooks Travis, Erica Smith, Matthew Smith and Kaylee Hamm; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Milton Maines; and two sisters, Marjorie Varney and Ethel Maines.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 1 at 1:00 PM in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Morrison will officiate. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, two hours prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brocton Fire Department.
