Karen A. Loehr, age 66, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo after a courageous battle with leukemia, surrounded by family. Born January 5, 1951 in Gowanda, the daughter of Henry and Kathryn "Joyce" (Ondus) Kaluza.
Karen graduated from Gowanda Central, Class of 1969. She married William Loehr in Gowanda on January 19, 1970. Bill passed away July 1, 2007.
A teacher's assistant for nearly 10 years, Karen worked at the Aldrich Street Elementary School of the Gowanda School District. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Gowanda.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah (John) Rebmann of Collins and Tara (Bryan) Brawdy of Gowanda; six grandchildren, Brittany, Rachel, Joshua Rebmann, Hanna, Lucas and Nate Brawdy; and a sister, Kathy (Thomas) Stelley of Gowanda.
Friends may call at the Schindler Funeral Home, 44 Center St., Gowanda from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, March 26. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 27 at 10 a.m. from the St. Joseph's RC Church, E. Main St., Gowanda (please assemble at church). Interment to follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Gowanda.
