Frederick John Peebles

Frederick John Peebles, 78, of Bay City, MI, our humorous and devoted husband, dad, Papa, brother, uncle and friend, was born into eternal life on the morning of Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Fred was born in Erie, PA on December 26, 1938, the son of the late Wayne and Lucille (Collier) Peebles.

At the age of 17, Fred was carrying a pizza at a beach in New York when he happened to collide with Nancy Boryczka, who was riding her bicycle. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on July 23, 1960. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters and countless memories.

Fred proudly served in both the Air Force and the Army. He was a dedicated insurance agent for Catholic Family Life and the Knights of Columbus, of which he was also a 4th Degree member of St. Stephen Council No. 4102 and the Bishop Murphy Assembly 491.

Fred enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, bowling, and was always a big fan of his Philadelphia Eagles.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Nancy and their daughters, Sheri (Kevin) Underwood and Kimberly (Mick) Terry. Fred was the spontaneous Papa of Austin, Kyle, Brent, Jake, John, Mitchell, Mallory and Mason and the great-Papa of Mya, Leah, Weston, Josephine and one on the way. He is also survived by his brothers, Craig (SuLan) Peebles and Richard (Darlene) Peebles; sister-in-law, Shirley Boryczka; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Fred was welcomed home to Heaven by his daughter, Michelle Kiehler; and brother-in-law, Frank Boryczka, Jr.

Fred's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, March 10 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Vigil for Fred at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Road, Hampton Township, MI. On Saturday, March 11, Fred will be taken to St. Catherine of Siena Parish (St. Vincent de Paul Church), 2956 E. North Union Road, Bay City, MI, where visiting will continue from 10 a.m. until the time of his 11 a.m. funeral liturgy. A private rite of committal will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bay County Veterans Council.

Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
