Darrell Parke Allen of Route 353, Gowanda passed away Friday, February 4, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital. Darrell was 53 years old.
Darrell was born March 6, 1963, the son of Merrill and Jane (Prince) Allen. He attended Cattaraugus Elementary School and graduated from Gowanda Central School, Class of 1981. He attended trade schools in California and Alaska.
While Darrell was in Alaska, he worked as a machinist on the Alaskan Pipeline. Darrell was a self-employed carpenter and mechanic. His prior employment includes Wright Brothers Trucking and Austin Dicks Garage in Cattaraugus. At the time of his death, he was the assistant sextant of the Park Lawn Cemetery in Wesley.
An avid outdoorsman, Darrell enjoyed fishing, trapping and hunting.
Memberships include the Wesley United Methodist Church, a social member of the South Dayton American Legion, and was a member of the Cattaraugus Rod and Gun Club.
Darrell is survived by his father, Merrill Allen; a daughter, Chelsea I. Allen of Cattaraugus; two grandchildren, Aiden James and Violet Irene; a brother, Dr. Daniel (Sarah) Allen of California; along with cousins and many friends. Darrell was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Prince Allen, who passed away February 4, 2015.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 12 at 2:00 PM from the Wesley United Methodist Church on Route 353 in Wesley. Darrell has donated his body to the University of Buffalo's Anatomical Gift Program. His burial will take place in the family plot of the Park Lawn Cemetery in Wesley at a later date.
