Mark K. Mekus, 38, of Dunkirk died unexpectedly Thursday, January 12, 2017 at home. He was born October 23, 1978 in Dunkirk, the son of Kenneth J. (stepmother Shirley) Mekus and Debbie Munson (John Stevens), all of Dunkirk.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, he was a graduate of Dunkirk High School. Mark was employed as a service technician at the family business, Sewer's Choice in Fredonia. He enjoyed spending time with his canine companion, Milo.
Besides his parents, he is survived by five sisters, Christina (Michael) Crocker of Virginia, Melinda (Brian) Barry of Brocton, Shauna (Walter) Barnard of Dunkirk, Rebecca Mekus of Dunkirk and Shellisa Morrison of Niagara Falls; one brother, Tyler Mekus of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church, 876 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Pastor Thyne Bodenmiller will officiate. There will be no prior calling hours.
