Dunkirk City School District officials say there is no truth to rumors that the district is moving ahead with plans for reconfiguration. The issue was raised during a workshop meeting of the Dunkirk School Board Thursday evening after board members received a number of calls concerning changes at the Middle School. Superintendent Dr. James Tracy says the board will have to make the decision on reconfiguration and it must be approved by the state. Dr. Tracy says a recommendation is not expected until November. He doesn't expect a board decision until February. The earliest the district could move ahead with any changes is during 2019-20 school year.
