Hamburg Town Police say a Hamburg man lost his life in an apparent water related accident in Lake Erie just off Route 5. First responders responded to a call around 8 pm of a male in a raft appearing to be in distress. Rescuers were able to pulled the victim, 50-year-old Robert Maccubbin, from the water, but he later died at Mercy Hospital. Police continue to investigate the incident.
