Dunkirk Police Chief says off-duty officers will handle SRO duties

Less than 24 hours after a temporary agreement was approved, a school resource officer was walking the beat in the Dunkirk City School District. Dunkirk Police Chief David Ortolano confirmed that an SRO began work in the schools on Wednesday. Ortolano tells WDOE News he's pleased the temporary agreement was reached and that off-duty police officers will be handling the duties for the remainder of the current school year...

Both the Common Council and the Dunkirk School Board approved the agreement in separate meetings held on Tuesday. The PBA also gave its backing. Ortolano was a guest on WDOE's Viewpoint program on Wednesday.
