Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello led a delegation to Washington last week to discuss several water-related projects and topics with federal representatives and agencies. The delegation included Borrello, County Legislator Pierre Chagnon and County Watershed Coordinator David McCoy. Among the federal officials they visited included Congressman Tom Reed and his senior staff. The issues discussed included the environmental restoration of Chautauqua Lake, funding for wastewater projects, flood mitigation studies, and dredging and breakwater projects in the Lake Erie harbors. The delegation also visited with Congressman Chris Collins on working together concerning Cattaraugus Creek Harbor in Sunset Bay and senior staff members with Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand's offices.
