The Section VI high school basketball playoffs got underway on Tuesday, and for the Fredonia girls, their push towards a second consecutive sectional title got off on the right foot. In a game broadcast on WDOE, the Lady Billies (9-12) defeated Springville (7-14) by a score of 57-38 in the Class B-1 prequarterfinals, their final home game of the season. Fredonia wasted no time in solidifying its spot in the quarterfinals, jumping out to a 26-0 lead after one quarter. The Lady Griffins did not get on the scoreboard until the 5:23 mark of the 2nd quarter. Katie Price led the way for the Lady Billies with 19 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Fellow senior Gracie Morrison added 14 points and seven boards, and sophomore A'Cetta Farrait chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds. For Springville, Ivette Lewandowski was the top scorer with 14 points. Fredonia moves on to play at Albion on Thursday.
