Two men are facing a slew of charges after allegedly illegally killing a deer in southern Erie County. The New York State DEC says they were contacted by a man who saw two men shoot a deer out of a pickup truck in the Town of Concord on January 30th. Two Environmental Conservation Officers arrived on scene and found a doe carcass left about 60 yards from the road, along with an open can of beer. The investigation led to two Town of Concord men who initially denied involvement. Both suspects came forward two days later and admitted to the ECOs that they had shot the deer. The two men, who were not identified, were charged with illegally taking a wild deer, taking wildlife with the aid of a motor vehicle, taking wildlife from a public highway, possessing a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, and discharging a firearm on a public highway. The two will appear in Concord Justice Court in March, where they face possible fines of more than $5,000 and revocation of their hunting privileges.
