Winter Storm Watch issued by National Weather Service

Expect more snow, both from a general storm system, then a heavy dose of lake effect snow toward mid-week. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from this evening through Wednesday afternoon for most of Western New York including Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Southern Erie counties. Meteorologist Tony Ansuini of the Buffalo Office says a general storm system will be approaching the area later tonight...

General weather system will approach area later tonight and Tuesday

Once the storm system moves through the area, some of the coldest air of the season will move in and kick off lake effect snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. Total snow accumulations of greater than 10 inches possible. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.
