A Brocton man is facing driving while ability impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree after a crash on Route 5 near Wilbur Road in the town of Dunkirk late Thursday afternoon. Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies say that 53-year-old Steven Andrews was driving the vehicle shortly before 6 pm when it went off the side of Route 5 and entered a deep ditch. Andrews suffered minor injuries and was transported to Brooks Memorial hospital for treatment. Further investigation by deputies determined that Andrews was allegedly operating his vehicle while impaired by drugs. He was also found to be in possession of several controlled substances. Andrews will appear in Dunkirk Town Court at a later date.
