A Corry, Pennsylvania man has been sent to the Chautauqua County jail after he led State Police on a pursuit along the State Thruway in Chautauqua County Saturday night. Troopers say they were called to the scene of a property damage crash at the Ripley Toll Barrier around 8:30 pm. Before they reached the scene, troopers say a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Kevin Birchard had taken off. State Police were able to locate and attempted to stop the vehicle, but Birchard refused to comply and troopers say he intentionally struck five vehicles during the pursuit that ended without incident. Among the charges filed against Birchard, criminal mischief 2nd and reckless endangerment 1st, both felonies along with driving while ability impaired by drugs and unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle 3rd. He was arraigned in Westfield Town Court and remanded to the County Jail without bail. No serious injuries were reported.
