A complaint of a vehicle going the wrong way on Interstate 86 led to the arrest of a Fredonia man on a number of charges, including drunk driving with a youth in his vehicle. Chautauqua County Sheriff's officers received the initial complaint at about 10:15 PM Saturday. Further complaints advised that the vehicle had exited I-86 and was westbound on Route 394 towards Mayville. Deputies later found the vehicle parking on a sidewalk on South Erie Street in Mayville. The driver, 47-year-old James Murphy, was allegedly found to be intoxicated and had a person under the age of 16 in the vehicle. Further investigation found that Murphy had a previous DWI conviction with the past 10 years, as well as revoked licenses. He is being held in the Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment on charges of felony DWI, felony aggravated DWI with a child less than 16 years old, 1st-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and parking on a sidewalk.
