Flames have destroyed a two-story home along Chautauqua Lake in the Vukote area of the town of Busti. Lakewood fire crews were called to the scene at 2398 Lakeside Drive shortly after 7 o'clock last night. Firefighters found heavy fire coming from the home on arrival according to fire officials. The family inside the home was able to escape the flames, although two pets perished. Lakewood had help from Ashville firefighters at the scene with Celoron on standby.
Update: Fire officials say carelessly discarded smoking materials have now been listed as the cause of the fire.
