New York State's private sector job count has reached a new record high, according to preliminary figures released Thursday by the State Department of Labor. The private job count increased by 18,800 in July, reaching just over 8.1 million jobs. While the number of private sector jobs has increased, the statewide unemployment rate also went up from 4.5% to 4.7% in July.
