A call to a vehicle lockout in Dunkirk on Saturday led to the arrest of two city men on drug charges. Dunkirk Police were called to the area of the car wash behind the Crosby Mart on Central Avenue at about 5:30 PM. After opening the vehicle's door, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana. With assistance from Dunkirk Police K-9 Gunny, a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 29-year-old Rafael Gonzalez-Rivera (pictured) and 37-year-old Onix Lopez-Ortiz. Gonzalez-Rivera was allegedly in possession of a quantity of heroin and cocaine, while Lopez-Ortiz was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana, as well as prescription medication which was not properly packaged. Gonzalez-Rivera is charged with two counts of 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, while Lopez-Ortiz is charged with 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Both men are being held pending arraignment in Dunkirk City Court.
