A Mayville man is behind bars after he led police on a high-speed chase in the Town of Chautauqua on Friday. Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies saw 41-year-old Michael Hannold driving a vehicle on Beaujean Road just before 9:30 AM. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle, but Hannold -- who was wanted for a parole violation, as well as a misdemeanor warrant from State Police -- led officers on a pursuit with speeds reaching nearly 100 miles per hour. Hannold pulled the vehicle into a driveway and fled on foot. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. Hannold was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, 2nd-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and speeding over 55 miles per hour, and is scheduled to appear in Chautauqua Town Court on those charges. He was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail with no bail on the parole violation.
