An Ohio man is facing weapons related charges after a report of a vehicle driving erratically on Route 394 in the town of North Harmony last Friday. Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies located the vehicle, driven by 32-year-old James Schmidt. He got out of the vehicle and fled on foot according to deputies. Schmidt was caught a short distance away and taken into custody. Deputies say he was found to be in possession of a .45 caliber pistol despite having prior felony convictions in the state of Ohio. Schmidt has been charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd and having an illegal windshield. He was remanded to the County Jail on $10,000 bail.
