An area of strong thunderstorms moved across portions of northeastern Chautauqua, northwestern Cattaraugus and southwestern Erie counties around 5 am. The storms contained torrential rainfall and caused some ponding of water on road surfaces. The storms have since moved out of the area, but more showers and thunderstorms are possible today.
