Jamestown Police arrested a 27-year-old man after an armed standoff that lasted for more than three hours Friday on Baker Street. The ordeal began when police responded to a disturbance call at 242 McKinley Avenue shortly before 11 am. Police say Alberto Acevedo fled the residence before officers reached the scene and went to 131 Baker in an attempt to evade capture for an outstanding parole violation warrant. Officers say Acevedo armed himself with a knife before barricading himself in a small room on the second floor of the residence. After more than three hours of negotiations, SWAT team personnel gained entry into the room and forcibly took Acevedo into custody. He was transported to UPMC Chautauqua WCA for physical evaluation and will later be transferred to the Chautauqua County Jail for the parole violation. The investigation is continuing, and additional charges are expected.
